Mission Statement
The mission of the Community Partners is to identify and eliminate education and employment barriers through providing individualized job skills training,, placement and educational services to low-income individuals to promote economic independence and self-sufficiency.
History & Philosophy
he Self Sustaining Model was started in 1993 as a pilot project, funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), in partnership with the Horner Association of Men (HAM) and the Community Partners Construction Module (CPCM). The philosophy of the program grew out of the growing concern of the plight of 90,000 minority men and their families at the risk of homelessness and poverty. Community Partners Construction Module (CPCM) adopted a Model of job readiness and employment services to minority individuals Focusing on the barriers which prevent otherwise qualified workers from finding and keeping a job. CP utilizes 6 components in the success of each individual: pre employment services, education services, individualized job skills training, job placement services, and referrals to community based support services.
We Serve the Community
An underlying goal of this initiative is to prepare community members for self-
sufficiency by exposure to multiple forms of economic development. As specialized, trained and educated human labor becomes more important to businesses and corporations, community members must have access to information that prepares them for a more secure future in a world of technology.
